Department: Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, Nashville, TN. Salary: $103,440.00 - $165,048.00. Closing Date: 07/08/2026. Position: On‑site. Requires criminal background check. Job Overview Under the direction of the Psychology Department Director, the Forensic Psychologist performs professional psychological work including court‑ordered inpatient forensic evaluations and related responsibilities. The incumbent may serve as a treatment team member, evaluative forensic specialist, or specialty staff, and often supervises or leads professional staff. Key Responsibilities Develop a comprehensive mental health treatment program, including evaluation, diagnosis, detailed treatment planning, and service delivery. Evaluate various clinical documentation and services to ensure compliance with professional, state, and federal standards. Develop treatment strategies to effectively address challenging and unique treatment needs. Provide crisis intervention services and individual, group, and other therapeutic services to improve behavioral health and mental health. Supervise the clinical work of professional, sub‑professional, and nonprofessional personnel. Administer tests and conduct observations and interviews to collect information for evaluations and diagnosis. Conduct expert testimony and explain biopsychosocial constructs to others. Serve as a psychological resource person in developing detailed treatment plans and conducting therapeutic and habilitative activities. Write detailed clinical notes and reports to document services provided. Maintain professional working relationships with peers, subordinates, and upper management. Analyze behavioral and mental health data to monitor progress and plan treatment, and analyze quality improvement data. Conduct and participate in diagnostic and evaluative staff meetings. Enter diagnostic information into clinical documents. Perform personal contact work with other individuals, groups, agencies, and entities to explain, interpret, and further programs. Resolve conflicts and maintain a respectful and productive work environment. Instruct staff in psychological services practices and techniques. Plan and prioritize work to meet strict deadlines. Coordinate workloads with internal and external partners for timely task completion. Apply evidence‑based practices and stay current with professional literature. Maintain licensure through continuing education and complete required forms. Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in psychology and forensic evaluation experience.
