Job Details Title: Chief Engineer Location: Courtyard by Marriott Lackland Sea World San Antonio – San Antonio, TX 78238 Position Type: Full Time Salary: $54,000 – $60,000 per year Job Category: Facilities Summary The Chief Engineer oversees and coordinates daily operations of the Courtyard by Marriott Lackland, ensuring total comfort, safety, and satisfaction of hotel guests and staff through maintenance of all equipment, buildings, and property. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain property including guest rooms, public areas, and equipment through a preventive maintenance program. Manage hotel’s physical operations (refrigeration, HVAC, laundry, pool, kitchen equipment, generators, plumbing, water treatment, electric systems). Interface with hotel staff/managers to receive information regarding maintenance needs and ensure timely response. Coordinate renovation and new construction plans with hotel staff, engineers, and outside contractors. Monitor inventory levels and authorize purchase orders for supplies and equipment. Ensure completion of fire and safety inspections and compliance with safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations. Supervise and assist staff in maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and property. Maintain knowledge of building codes, OSHA requirements, and ADA laws, and implement related guidelines. Develop, implement, and monitor department budget; manage expenses within approved constraints. Prepare accurate and timely reports as required. Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and develop maintenance/engineering staff; manage schedules and workflow. Assign duties, monitor quality of work, and ensure staff conforms to organizational policies and safety regulations. Provide day‑to‑day guidance and oversight of subordinates to promote performance. Identify problem areas and take corrective actions. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise employees within the department(s). Indirectly supervise employees within the department(s). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. Demonstrate effective organizational skills. Qualifications Knowledge of ventilation/HVAC, heating, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance skills. Knowledge of city and state building codes, OSHA requirements, and ADA laws. Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates. Commitment to excellence and high standards.
