Project Accountant

The Job Cost Accountant works closely with branch leadership, operations management, and project management to ensure all financial activities, including revenues and costs, are recorded timely and accurately in support of the business. This position will work with the divisional accounting team to implement appropriate processes and controls for transactional activity and support the branch leadership to record and monitor the financial position of the branch to ensure revenues, job costs, and operational costs are reported accurately and in accordance with the standards established by the division accounting team.Duties/Responsibilities:Provide direct oversight and support of transactional accounting including purchasing, work orders, and project costing for the branchPeriodically review costs and other financial activity to ensure appropriateness and accuracy in support of branch leadershipPartner with operations team and branch personnel to ensure contracts and change orders are setup accurately and recorded properly in the project systemProduce operational and financial reports and reviews as needed to support branch leadershipAssist with month end closing processes in coordination with division accounting teamUnderstand financial policies, including basic knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and percentage of completion accounting to support operations team and financial reviewUnderstand the financial and operational systems in use by the businessAll other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:Prior experience with project accounting and percentage of completionExperience with MS Excel, including dealing with large data sets, and the use of pivot tables, xlookup, sumifs, and other functionsExperience and proficiency in the use of NetSuiteExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
