Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg position requiring at least 3 years of experience, stepdown-specific skills, and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit with 20 beds
• Patient population includes respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
• Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3; Med-Surg floor ratio of 1:5–6
• Two nursing aides are available per shift
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely
• RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts
• Three weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday rotation required (evening or day)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown experience required
• Experience titrating drips (Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, amiodarone)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
• Any licensing actions or hits must be disclosed upfront

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation is provided
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before applying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before requiring a 2-year break
• Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference
• A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
