Utility Worker

We are seeking a Sewer/Water Line Technician to perform various semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involved in the maintenance and construction of sewer and water lines, installation of new services, and related facilities. The role requires excavation, clearing and smoothing trenches, laying pipe, assisting with new connections, repairing breaks in water or sewer lines, installing fire hydrants, and cleaning up the job site. Vehicle operation such as pickup trucks, dump trucks, high velocity water trucks, lowboy trucks, and sewer vacuum trucks may be required, along with hand tools such as soil tamper, air drill, and pavement breaker. Responsibilities Excavate, clear, and smooth trenches for pipe installation. Lay water and sewer pipe and assist with new connections. Repair breaks in water or sewer lines and install fire hydrants. Operate various trucks and heavy equipment. Use hand tools for maintenance and construction tasks. Clean up the job site and ensure safety compliance. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. At least two (2) years of heavy manual labor experience. Required Skills Valid Virginia driver's license. Must obtain a Class A (combination vehicle) Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement for vehicles with Air Brakes within six to twelve months of employment. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Basic mathematics, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with general hand tools. Ability to multitask, work independently, and exhibit a positive attitude with the public, agency officials, and co‑workers. #J-18808-Ljbffr
