Job Title: Accounts Receivable Specialist

Location: North Houston, TX

Compensation: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Benefits: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our client's accounting team in North Houston. This position will focus exclusively on accounts receivable, cash applications, account reconciliation, and collections support . The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience managing customer accounts and outstanding balances in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned customer accounts and maintain accurate accounts receivable records
• Apply customer payments accurately and timely to the appropriate accounts
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, unapplied cash, and account variances
• Reconcile customer accounts and AR subledger balances
• Monitor outstanding receivables and aging reports
• Follow up with customers regarding past-due balances and payment status
• Assist with collections efforts and maintain consistent communication with customers
• Research account history and resolve customer inquiries related to outstanding balances and payments
• Prepare and maintain AR reports and account reconciliations
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve account discrepancies and payment issues
• Maintain accurate documentation of customer communications and collection activity
• Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts receivable experience preferred
• Strong experience with cash applications, account reconciliation, and collections
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to research discrepancies and independently resolve account issues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
