About the Position

Job Title: Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II Profession: Sonography Specialty: Pediatric Echo Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days, 3 days of call a month required - Fri/Sat/1 weeknight or 2 weeknights/Sunday. May be scheduled. Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional in the specialty required. License: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Certifications: One of the following Cardiovascular or Radiologic certification: - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) - Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - ARRT-Radiography (R) - Computed Tomography (CT) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) - Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CI) - Sonography (S) - Vascular Sonography (VS) Must-Have: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic specialty. Description: Under general to limited supervision and direction, this intermediate-level position accepts independent clinical and non-clinical duty assignments necessary to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to pediatric patient populations. The purpose is to aid medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions and diseases. Maintains the competencies required to perform essential duties and responsibilities. Utilizing intermediate-level professional knowledge and skills, provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centric care under routine or emergent conditions. Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with procedures ordered by physicians. Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to achieve clinical outcomes. Utilizes specialized imaging equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic and interventional procedures according to established guidelines. Conducts post-procedure reviews without assistance to confirm all required study elements are completed and documented. Transfers images and data to the appropriate archival systems, enters technical data/findings, and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies. Provides instruction and mentors less experienced team members. Prepares and presents in-service training pertinent to the assigned service area. Performs quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. May cover procedures in the OR/CCL and may be required to perform fetal echoes. This position requires the ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritize and complete assignments efficiently, and maintain accurate records. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effectively communicating with staff, patients, and their families in a professional and compassionate manner.
