Lab Assistant Opportunity

Sierra Medical Center is part of Northern Nevada Health System, a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. Sierra Medical Center is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering services including 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services, and much more.

This Lab Assistant opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient flexible schedule. We are looking for a dynamic individual to perform venipuncture and skin puncture competently and expediently. Has working knowledge of test requirements, assists in clinical laboratory. include venipuncture, blood cultures and capillary blood samples.

Job duties include:

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures and files paperwork.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.

Qualifications:

• Current BLS certification.
