Cashier

Description

Cashiers are responsible for providing fast, friendly, and accurate checkout service while creating a positive shopping experience for every customer. This position handles customer transactions, maintains front-end cleanliness, and assists with daily store operations while following all company policies and procedures.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Provide efficient, friendly, and courteous customer service at all times.
Promptly invite customers to the checkout lane and maintain an active checkout presence.
Accurately scan and ring customer purchases according to company policies and productivity standards.
Ensure all merchandise is properly scanned, credited to the correct department, and removed from carts during checkout.
Handle all cash, checks, coupons, credit/debit cards, gift cards, EBT, and other tenders accurately and responsibly.
Follow company procedures for check cashing, till usage, and obtaining change.
Assist courtesy clerks with bagging groceries when needed.
Keep checkout stations and surrounding areas neat, clean, and organized.
Understand and follow all federal, state, and local laws regarding alcohol sales, WIC transactions, and EBT handling.
Record and report all not-on-file items daily.
Properly use the store intercom system when required.
Maintain professionalism and focus while checking out customers.
Understand and explain the Naifeh's program to customers when needed.
Sweep and maintain cleanliness of the front-end area.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on feet for extended periods.
Ability to accurately handle money and operate a cash register system.
