Travel Nursing Job Details Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract Location: Wausau, Wisconsin Start Date: November 2, 2026 Contract End Date: January 31, 2027 Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340 Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, subject to orientation and applicable low-census provisions Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Weekend and Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday Patient Ratio: Approximately 4:1 Floating: May float to inpatient units, including higher-acuity units, as needed Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience Required experience in a stepdown, intermediate care, or progressive care unit At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Demonstrated ventilator and tracheostomy care experience Associate degree in nursing or an equivalent nursing certificate required Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred ICU experience preferred Level II trauma experience preferred EPIC charting experience preferred Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and independent decision-making skills Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring and intermediate-level care. Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly. Care for patients with weaning ventilators or tracheostomies, sepsis, trauma, gastrointestinal bleeding, chest tubes, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injuries, and stroke. Manage patients receiving insulin infusions and those recovering from complex medical or surgical conditions. Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, administer medications, and evaluate treatment responses. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Float to other inpatient units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care.
