Health Technician (Phlebotomist)

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR Education Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. Experience Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in the collection of patient specimens via venipuncture and/or capillary techniques. Experience in instructing patients on proper collection of specimens such as stool and urine for laboratory analysis. Experience in specimen processing to include specimen centrifugations, aliquoting, and mixing. Experience in maintaining inventories of needles and syringes and laboratory supplies. You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. OR Combination of Education and Experience Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
