Job Description
The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production environment. This role supports daily operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, and delivering materials to appropriate locations in a timely manner while maintaining inventory accuracy, production efficiency, and a strong focus on workplace safety.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and production facility with approximately 150-160 full-time employees and strong expectations on production numbers and operational efficiency. The environment includes exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of industrial settings. You work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, and you follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment provided on-site. Dress is casual and practical, typically jeans, t-shirt, steel-toed shoes, and required PPE. Shifts are structured, with primary schedules running on three main shifts: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Some departments, such as certain MCO and Shipping roles, may operate on standard daytime schedules around 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overall, you work in a busy, production-driven warehouse where safety is the top priority and efficiency is highly valued

Job Description
The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production environment. This role supports daily operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, and delivering materials to appropriate locations in a timely manner while maintaining inventory accuracy, production efficiency, and a strong focus on workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, verifying quantities and quality against documentation.
- Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse and production facility.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using manual methods and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers, in accordance with training and safety procedures.
- Perform cycle counts and manual inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control processes.
- Enter and update data in inventory and warehouse management systems, using basic computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite for tracking and documentation.
- Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures, ensuring proper identification and organization of inventory.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, palletizing, and completing necessary shipping and receiving documentation.
- Support production activities by delivering materials to the production floor and assisting with general labor and warehouse production tasks as needed.
- Identify damaged, non-conforming, or missing materials and promptly report issues to supervision for resolution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping standards and adhering to all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Consistently prioritize safety as the top concern while operating equipment and handling materials in a busy warehouse and production environment.
- Perform other warehouse, shipping and receiving, order picking, and general material handling duties as assigned to support overall operational efficiency.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related facility.
- Proven warehouse background with experience in material handling and inventory control.
- Ability to operate forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up models, and other powered industrial trucks, or willingness and ability to obtain certification.
- Hands-on experience with pallet jacks, order picking, loading, and general shipping and receiving activities.
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite, for inventory tracking and documentation.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Basic math skills and the ability to use a ruler and other measuring tools for accurate material handling and production tasks.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in inventory, documentation, and material movement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet production numbers and efficiency goals.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift, frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions such as bending and reaching.
- Willingness to work in varying temperatures, with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and typical industrial warehouse conditions.
- Previous experience as a material handler, warehouse associate, or in logistics and production environments.
- Experience in a high-volume warehouse or production facility with strong expectations on production numbers and efficiencies.
- Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and processes, including cycle counting and inventory control best practices.
- Metals handling or manufacturing operations, supporting both warehouse and production functions.
- Comfort working with packing, packaging, picking, and general labor tasks to support overall warehouse operations.
- Ability to identify and report safety hazards and contribute to a culture of continuous safety improvement.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and commitment to meeting shift schedules and operational deadlines.
