Job Details

• Position: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Location: Des Moines
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Shift: Night Shift
• Schedule: 3×12
• Experience Required: 1 Year
• Weekly Pay: $2200 to $2380

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic status
• Administer IV medications, vasoactive drips, blood products, and other prescribed therapies
• Operate and monitor advanced critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other life-support devices
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond rapidly to emergencies and code situations
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge planning when appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Follow infection prevention guidelines, patient safety protocols, and hospital policies
• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based patient care while advocating for patients and families

Requirements

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of critical care nursing, ventilator management, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
• Experience caring for high-acuity adult patients
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Excellent communication, assessment, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced critical care environment
