Associate Veterinarian

Under supervision of the Head Veterinarian, the Associate Veterinarian willassist the Head Veterinarian in the planning, execution, and oversight of the Veterinary Department. Responsibilities include but are not limed to: Participateinthedesignandexecutionofthepreventiveveterinarycareprogram. Prescribemedicaltreatments;communicatewithanimalcarestaffregardingtreatmentoptions,prognoses,follow-upcare, and recommended husbandry changes. Performphysicalexaminations,surgeries,diagnosticprocedures,andtreatmentstoprovideoutstandingmedicalcaretoaquarium residents and Rescue patients. Administerandmonitorsedationand/orgeneralanesthesia. WorkeffectivelywithCuratorstodevelopprotocolsinvolvinganimaldiets,quarantine,and preventivemedicine practices. Performnecropsiesandprepare post-mortemsamplesforlabanalyses;collateresultsovertimeandmake medicalrecommendations based on trends. Providebasicmedical,nutritionalandzoonotictrainingforAnimalHusbandrystaffasneeded. Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree; at least 2 years related experience and/or training in non-domestic animal medicine.
