Lead Line Cook (Fri-Tues/Closing)

About The Role The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion. They must comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards, and maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers. They will follow all standard policies and procedures within their assigned department. Work Schedule: Friday - Tuesday / 10am - 6:30pm (Weekend/Closing) Essential Functions Working with management and assisting with training of new staff. Overseeing management requests to ensure they are met. Assisting in preparing meal ingredients, including all food handling for daily use as well as for catering/VIP events. Preparing soups, salads, and sauces as instructed by the Chef. Plating and garnishing meal items in accordance with the Chef’s instructions. Supervising the work of line cooks to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner. Ensuring all cooking stations are adequately stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment is in safe working condition. Ensuring all cooking stations and kitchen surfaces are cleaned and disinfected before and after each shift, and that sanitation buckets are used and replaced per guidelines. Ensuring staff adhere to standard food rotation practices to reduce waste and prevent contamination. Working with management on online correspondence and assisting with catering/VIP orders. Menu planning, cash handling/training, monitoring health inspection readiness at all times, maintaining time and temperature logs. Inspecting the quality of delivered food supplies to ensure they meet Café standards. Assisting management with keeping crew on task, managing breaks and lunches, and ensuring coverage. Assisting management with the creative development of new sales products, catering sales, online sales, and advertising. Inventory ordering, documenting shortages and waste. Keeping the recipe binder clean, organized, and complete, ensuring workers follow guidelines when making items. Monitoring front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house duties and services to ensure adequate product and speed. Keeping up on all cook‑related duties. Responsible for opening/closing Café in manager’s absence. Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking. Culinary school experience is a plus.
