Must Have Railcar / Tank Car Repair Experience Must Be Open To Project Based Traveling Nationwide Internal Employees who Qualify will receive pay increase Transco Rail Services, along with Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) and Procor, delivers full‑service railcar repair and maintenance through a broad North American network of fixed shops and mobile field service teams. Tank Car Experience Required - Preferably 2yrs Some travel may be required Tank Qualification experience is a plus Responsibilities Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars comply with all FRA, AAR, and customer requirements Perform repairs as necessary while always using current safety and quality standards and repair procedures Perform mechanical repairs to railroad freight cars including tank and hopper cars when required Occasionally performing welding repairs when needed Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards Notify supervision of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks Interact well with team members and supervision Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver a best‑in‑class customer experience Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections Follow all safety rules and practices May be involved in safety committees or initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skills Required Have a High School Diploma or GED Demonstrate job‑related knowledge including following written instructions Demonstrate an ability to safely operate machinery including, but not limited to large work vehicles, which may also pull trailers from time to time, and forklifts Be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including any overtime Ability to learn basic railcar knowledge Proficiency with the use of basic hand and power tools Ability to learn basic knowledge of how to read Engineering drawings Ability to pass DOT Requirements is a plus Ability to perform confined space entry or monitoring and create hot work permits Ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations Ability to obtain the following within 6 - 12 months (timeline and required test depend on specific location): Welding and Airbrake Test certifications Any type of welding/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is a preferred Must be legal to work in the United State now and in the future without sponsorship requirements Environmental and Working Conditions The physical environment for this job requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat or cold, wet, humid, or dry and dusty conditions. The employee may be frequently exposed to heights that require the use of fall protection equipment. Team members are required to use personal protective equipment as environmental conditions and job function details dictate.
