Pediatric Heart Failure-Heart Transplant Physician Phoenix Children’s – Division of Cardiology is actively seeking up to three full‑time faculty to join the Advanced Heart Failure – Cardiac Transplant Team at the level of Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Child Health. The program performs an average of 12‑15 heart transplants annually and supports a mechanical circulatory support program offering the full range of pediatric and adult devices. Candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics, and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Arizona. Applicants should have completed a three‑year ACGME‑accredited fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology with an additional 1–2 years of advanced subspecialty training in pediatric advanced heart failure, including management of cardiac transplant patients and mechanical circulatory support. This position is not currently accepting J1 visa candidates. Position Details Department: PCMG‑MAIN | CHC Cardiology Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon‑Fri, days vary; shifts vary, 8am‑5pm Category: Physician / Division Chief / Medical Director Posting #: 797193 Employee Type: Full‑Time Academic and Research Opportunities The program offers academic clinical faculty appointments at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and Tucson, Creighton University School of Medicine, and Mayo Clinic School of Medicine – Scottsdale. Additional research collaborations exist with the Translational Genomics Research Institute (tGen) and the Arizona State University, Department of Bioengineering. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a rigorous academic focus, preferably in clinical and/or translational research, though basic science opportunities are also available. Clinical and Educational Responsibilities Patient Care Services Provide direct patient care on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Offer subspecialty consultations and follow‑up. Deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures, including urgent/emergent care as needed. Strive to achieve the best patient‑ and family‑centered care. Support hospital patient‑satisfaction goals and division‑specific targets. Adhere to divisional patient‑safety and quality‑of‑care standards. Practice contemporary evidence‑based medicine. Divisional Responsibilities Establish and demonstrate effort to achieve annual physician goals and objectives. Support educational programs and activities of the Division, including supervision of trainees and allied health professionals. Conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences for trainees. Participate in postgraduate continuing‑education activities. Support research endeavors of the division and other members. Contribute to programmatic growth and satellite efforts of the division. Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside of Phoenix Children’s when they support divisional clinical and teaching programs. Maintain physical and mental skills essential to the role, including effective communication, night‑call readiness, and regular scheduled work hours.
