Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Engineering Architect for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Engineering Architect to design, architect, and modernize large-scale data processing and engineering solutions within an enterprise environment. This is a hands-on architecture role for a candidate who can balance technical depth with business alignment, transforming high-volume data platforms and enabling the organization to derive actionable insights from billions of data records.

Responsibilities:

• Design and architect high-volume, low-latency, highly resilient data processing platforms
• Lead the development and modernization of Apache Spark-based data processing ecosystems
• Architect and implement solutions using Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analytics
• Design end-to-end data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, processing, storage, and distribution
• Work with Apache Kafka and other streaming technologies to build reliable data ingestion pipelines
• Develop and architect data lake/lakehouse solutions using technologies such as Apache Iceberg and Apache Parquet
• Evaluate existing data architecture to improve performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency
• Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams to define and implement enterprise data solutions
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance while remaining hands-on with solution design
• Drive architectural best practices across development and platform teams

Requirements:

• Enterprise Application Architecture experience with strong system design and solution architecture expertise
• Deep hands-on expertise with Apache Spark and Databricks
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, and/or Java
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Parquet
• Proven experience with distributed data processing, data pipelines (ETL/ELT), and data lake/lakehouse architecture
• Experience in Java-based enterprise environments
• SQL and distributed system architecture experience
• AWS cloud architecture knowledge
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Desired Skills:

• Cloud data platforms and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with APIs and data services
• Knowledge of Kubernetes or containerized environments
• Familiarity with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, streaming, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with large-scale modernization or migration programs
• Financial services industry experience

Pay range: $88.59 - $96.59 per hour
