Sourcing Specialist I
Location: Louisville, KY
Work arrangement: Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay rate: $41 per hour
Assignment length: Initial six-month assignment, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance

Job Summary
The Sourcing Specialist I gathers and analyzes information from multiple sources to support sourcing activities, strategic initiatives, and process improvements. This role helps identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and reliable delivery of goods and services.
Working within established sourcing strategies and under appropriate supervision, the specialist supports sourcing projects, supplier selection, purchasing activities, and low-complexity sourcing and contract development. The role may also contribute to special projects and serve as a subject matter resource for team systems and tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure goods and services, including inventory, supplies, and capital goods; prepare and place purchase orders with vendors.
• Support strategic sourcing initiatives by analyzing markets, supply chains, supplier bases, costs, and procurement processes.
• Conduct price benchmarking, market and industry research, vendor management, process analysis, and model development.
• Identify and evaluate qualified suppliers and support source-selection strategies.
• Manage sourcing projects in line with agreed deliverables, timelines, and objectives.
• Prepare analysis and recommendations on improvement opportunities, cost savings, and alternative courses of action for procurement and sourcing leaders.
• Support Value Capture Summaries at month-end and quarter-end.
• Apply sourcing policies, procedures, and processes consistently.
• Conduct minor contract negotiations and provide information for larger contracts.
• Support low-complexity, low-risk sourcing work and contract development under supervision.
• Maintain and retrieve legal and compliance documents in applicable systems for regulatory, audit, and research needs.
• Compile and manage Ariba Invoice Against Contract (IAC) documentation for capital goods (CIP).
• Communicate with suppliers regarding payments, order fulfillment, and ongoing business needs.
• Assist with interviewing and evaluating sales representatives and vendors.
• Participate in Six Sigma projects by contributing as a team member or providing data and market intelligence.
• Support special projects within the team’s category scope and develop expertise in relevant systems and tools.

Day-to-Day Focus
The specialist will analyze markets, supply chains, and suppliers to support strategic sourcing and process improvements. They will help identify qualified suppliers, apply sound supplier-selection strategies, and maintain regular supplier communication to encourage effective collaboration. The role also supports supply assurance and continuity while managing sourcing projects against established objectives and timelines.
Qualifications

• College, university, or equivalent degree in a field appropriate to the function.
• Intermediate-level related work experience.
• This position may require licensing to comply with export control or sanctions regulations.

Key Skills

• Sourcing: Use purchasing processes to complete RFQs, manage costs, and participate in supplier selection.
• Project management: Manage sourcing projects to meet agreed deliverables and timelines.
• Supplier relationship management: Communicate regularly with suppliers to support effective business relationships.
