Director / Manager of Tax Controversy – Shelton, CT; Bethel, CT or Hamden, CT The Innovative CPA Group is looking for a Director / Manager of Tax Controversy to join our CPA firm. The Innovative CPA Group is an employee-centric firm comprised of experienced tax and accounting professionals. We have successfully built a culture of empowerment, accountability, and wide-ranging expertise. We leverage the latest technology to streamline our workflow, thereby improving the service to our clients. This role will manage federal, state, and local tax controversy matters for individuals and businesses, including audits, notices, appeals, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience representing clients before taxing authorities. ResponsibilitiesManage tax controversy engagements, including audits, notices, appeals, and collections mattersRepresent clients before the IRS and state taxing authoritiesResearch tax issues and develop resolution strategiesCommunicate with clients and taxing authorities regarding case status and outcomesReview and supervise staff work, providing guidance and mentorshipAssist with practice development and maintaining client relationshipsStay current on tax law and regulatory changesQualificationsBachelor 's degree in Accounting or related fieldCPA , JD, or EA preferred5+ years of relevant experience for Manager level; 8+ years for Director levelStrong knowledge of federal and state tax proceduresExcellent organizational, analytical, and communication skillsPublic accounting experience preferredWhat You'll Love About Us:Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience401(k) plan with employer matchPaid health insurance for Employees with dependent/spouse coverage at employee cost4 weeks of vacationGreat work environmentFlexible work hoursOpportunity for hybrid schedule Business casual attire
