Organ Procurement Specialist - Nights

Organ Procurement Specialist (OPS) The OPS plays a crucial role in organ donation by providing education and process guidance to operating room staff and surgeons surrounding the organ recovery process. OPSs are responsible for packaging, labeling, and caring for organs post‑recovery, coordinating, facilitating, and managing the entire recovery process. Responsibilities In this role, you will work 13 nights (7p‑7a) 12‑hour, on‑call shifts and 2 24‑hour, on‑call shifts per month (monthly shifts are self‑scheduled, weekend requirements included). 12‑hour on‑call shifts may turn into longer shifts – Donor Alliance covers two states, Colorado and Wyoming. We service the third‑largest geographical area of all Organ Procurement Organizations. Collaboration is essential. Communication between multiple teams and hospital staff within tight timeframes is challenging and vital to making our mission happen. You will utilize a variety of systems and phone work to communicate among the teams. You will be able to explore a variety of advanced practice skills throughout your tenure. Examples: recover research organs, clean arterial cuffs for perfusion, recover kidney biopsies, and assist surgeons. Qualifications & Skills Critical Thinking – we face many challenges. Finding a way to compromise and continue moving the donation process forward is key. Education and Relationship Management – we work closely with medical teams to ensure procedures are executed smoothly and efficiently, often serving as a bridge between healthcare providers and our internal teams during intense moments. Preferred exposure to hospital and operating room settings.
