Definitive Observation Unit CNA

Overview

We are seeking a Definitive Observation Unit CNA , also ref erred to DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step-Down Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Progressive Care C NA in our Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) . This role involves providing direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than on a regular med-surg floor but are not critical enough for the ICU in our DOU . This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed .

Location: Mission Regional Medical Center - Mission, TX

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Take and record frequent vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation

• Assist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support

• Turn, reposition, and assist patients with mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques and equipment

• Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition

• Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step-down unit

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.2. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.4. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
