Summer School ESY SPSA Instructional Assistant Professional Day and Orientation: July 1, 2, and 3 (3rd is ½ day only) Program Dates: July 7, 2025 - August 1, 2025 Location: Dorothy Hamm Model: IN-PERSON SPSA Secondary Program for Students with Autism Responsibilities Assist an individual student as a 1:1 or groups of students with classroom activities and IEP goals under the guidance and direction of a teacher or assignment given by the Office of Special Education. Assist with classroom and behavior management plans under teacher guidance and direction. Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, student services staff, and families. Perform other tasks as assigned by teacher, site‑administrator, or coordinator. Experience Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. One year working with students who have disabilities. Qualifications Graduation from high school or equivalent education; and 60 college credits from a regionally accredited college/university; or qualifying score on the ParaPro (455 or better). Reliable, dependable, flexible, and punctual. Flexible and willing to work as a team. Knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities. Ability to take initiative appropriately. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee’s creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS Assistants will be paid $25.68 per hour. Non‑APS Assistants will be paid $16.68 per hour.
