Description Salary: $21.26 Per applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Benefits: All benefits and paid time off will be provided, as set forth by the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Job Summary: The Housekeeping Aideperforms a variety of environmental services duties in support of patient care operations at Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and infection-controlled patient rooms, clinical areas, and support spaces in compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CDC, OSHA, and AHE standards, and in accordance with the facility's environmental healthcare procedures and hospital objectives. Kneeling / Crouching 10% Twisting / Turning 5% Note: Per BLS Occupational Requirements Survey (ORS), workers in this classification (SOC 37-2011) are on their feet approximately 95% of the workday; seated time is minimal. - Cleans and supplies patient rooms, wards, nursing stations, exam rooms, lounges, lavatories, bathrooms, offices, corridors, and all other assigned areas in accordance with environmental healthcare procedures, hospital objectives, and AHE service level classification standards.
- Uses cleaning devices including light mops, wringers, microfiber systems, dusters, HEPA-filtered vacuums, and other necessary tools, EPA-registered chemicals, and supplies in accordance with product label instructions and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
- Performs specific cleaning tasks including dusting horizontal and vertical surfaces; emptying and sanitizing waste receptacles and removing trash; damp-wiping and disinfecting furniture and high-touch surfaces; cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain bathroom fixtures; dry-mopping and wet-mopping floors; applying EPA-registered disinfectants with proper dwell times per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 and facility infection control protocols; spot-cleaning walls and windows; replenishing room supplies; making and changing beds; and sorting and distributing linen.
- Responds to and cleans emergency spills observed or upon request; applies appropriate spill containment, biohazard cleanup procedures, and regulated medical waste (RMW) handling protocols as required by OSHA and facility policy.
- Maintains assigned equipment in clean, safe, and operational condition; reports equipment defects or needed repairs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Reports observed facility defects in equipment, furniture, building components, and fixtures to the supervisor or facilities management promptly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must wear uniform and comply with all departmental work rules, DoD access control requirements, and Fort Hood installation security badging standards.
- Must have knowledge of all department policies, procedures, infection control standards, and OSHA chemical safety (HazCom/GHS) requirements.
- Must be willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency at the facility, including patient care support, evacuation assistance, and biohazard cleanup.
- Will receive training in disaster preparedness, Transmission-Based Precaution protocols, and Anti-Terrorism Level I awareness, and must be prepared to respond as directed.
- Adequate written and oral English language skills are required to read SDS labels, follow written cleaning procedures, and communicate effectively with supervisors and facility personnel.
- Must be able to take directions, follow established cleaning protocols and infection control procedures, and carry out all assignments thoroughly and completely.
- Must demonstrate reliability and the ability to perform assigned duties to established quality and productivity standards without constant supervision, consistent with AHE healthcare environmental services guidelines.
- Must be available for all shifts in a 24/7 operational environment, including evenings, nights, weekends, and federal holidays, as required by the contract and facility operational needs.
