Quality Control Manager – Job Description Position Title: Quality Control Manager Job Type: Full-Time Location: In Person We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control functions within our fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry codes while leading personnel, improving systems, and supporting production goals. The Quality Control Manager must have proven management review experience, including evaluating quality system performance, leading management review meetings, and presenting metrics, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership. Manage quality inspectors, welding inspectors, and quality department personnel. Provide leadership, coaching, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Establish departmental priorities and ensure inspection coverage across operations. Key Responsibilies Manage incoming, in-process, and final inspection programs. Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures, inspection plans, and documentation systems. Lead formal management review processes by reporting KPI performance, audit results, customer complaints, corrective actions, and improvement opportunities. Prepare management review presentations and recommendations for executive leadership. Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, welding procedures, and applicable codes/standards. Write, review, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ). Review nonconformance reports and lead root cause / corrective action efforts. Coordinate with production, engineering, purchasing, and operations teams to resolve quality issues. Oversee calibration systems for measuring and inspection equipment. Manage welding quality programs including welder qualifications, WPS compliance, and documentation. Interface with customers, auditors, and third-party inspectors. Lead internal and external audit activities and ensure timely closure of findings. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing rework, scrap, delays, and quality escapes. Maintain quality records and reporting systems. Ensure compliance with all company safety requirements. Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, and manufacturing quality systems. Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records. Demonstrated management review experience within a manufacturing quality system. Experience presenting quality metrics and action plans to ownership or executive leadership. Strong understanding of corrective action systems, audits, and KPI reporting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving ability. Proficiency with inspection tools, reports, spreadsheets, and quality documentation. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of quality control experience in fabrication or manufacturing required. Minimum 3 years in a management or supervisory role required. Minimum 3 years of internal and external audit experience required. Experience leading management reviews in a structured quality environment preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility daily. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
