Opportunity Overview

We are retained to recruit a skilled Lead Marine Mechanic on a direct-hire basis for a premier Bay Area marine and shipyard services provider. In this hands-on role, you will take charge of maintaining and repairing heavy marine equipment, propulsion systems, and diesel engines utilized on barges, tugs, and construction machinery. The position calls for advanced technical troubleshooting, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to high performance and safety standards. 

Core Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel engines, mechanical components, and propulsion systems. 
• Systems Maintenance: Troubleshoot and service electrical (AC/DC), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. 
• Leadership & Workflow Management: Direct and support mechanics and laborers to guarantee cost-effective and timely project completion. 
• Mentorship: Train and mentor junior team members on daily tasks and standard protocols. 
• Operations & Preventative Care: Execute preventative maintenance schedules, accurately document all completed repairs, and assist with rigging, deck equipment upkeep, and machinery installation or removal. 

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working extensively with diesel engines, drivetrains, and marine systems. 
• Technical Proficiency: Proven capability using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical schematics. 
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively lead a small team. 
• Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills and sharp problem-solving capabilities. 
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and operate under all weather conditions.
