Quality Inspector

Quality Control Specialist Performs quality checks on sampling of raw materials, various stages of manufacturing, and after product completion using laboratory-testing equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Obtains samples from raw materials, using laboratory instruments, evaluates for adherence to Company standards of quality and appearance. Obtains random samples from various stages of production and checks with laboratory instruments that the samples meet Company quality standards and customer's standards. Obtains random samples from finished production and checks with laboratory instruments that the samples meet company quality standards and customer's standards. May accumulate scrap, keep up with scrap inventory, and prepare necessary reporting of scrap. Works closely with Quality Assurance Manager in establishing proper quality standards. Keeps work area clean and orderly. Responsible for conducting all works in a safe manner. Sample parts using statistical analysis techniques. May contact customer to clarify/acquire disposition on product. May perform other duties as requested. May participate on project teams as requested. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Basic Math: The ability to add, subtract, multiply or divide. Determine the number of individual things in a unit or group. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand, sit, walk, or move. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting Frequency: Medium heavy lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects with average weight of 25 lbs. Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Repetitive Hand Action: Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near and/or with moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
