Construction Technology Instructor

Construction Technology Instructor Job ID: 5730453 Application Deadline: Jun 01 2026 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) Starting Date: Immediately Primary Purpose: Instruct adult incarcerated students in the technical and soft skills needed for entry‑level employment. Students receive direct instruction in basic carpentry, masonry, concrete finishing, electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Qualifications High School Diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED. Five years of full‑time, wage‑earning experience in a construction field within the last ten years. Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis, with a maximum substitution of four years. Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience. Position requires personal technology that allows completion of duties when working remotely. Special Knowledge & Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records. Major Responsibilities and Duties Plan and direct learning activities for adult incarcerated students. Follow the Windham School District curriculum guide(s) for the area of assignment. Participate in district staff development programs as required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings. Participate in all evaluations and self‑studies required by the Texas Education Agency and contracting agency. Serve on curriculum, textbook, and other committees as assigned. Maintain lesson plans according to WSD policy criteria. Maintain accurate attendance records as prescribed by WSD. Submit reports required by program needs and administrative requests. Give clear oral and written instructions to students. Manage student behavior in the classroom that is firm, fair, and consistent, applying classroom rules. Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and educational growth. Prepare and use various methods to teach basic concepts at the required subject level. Plan activities for individual student needs and engage and maintain student interest in instructional activity. Administer diagnostic placement tests, achievement tests, curriculum tests, and other tests as required by the principal. Arrange seating, materials, and displays in a manner that harmonizes with instructional aims and procedures. Keep informed of and comply with all policies and procedures pertinent to instructional materials, equipment, and textbooks. Follow unit procedures for checking out materials, supplies, and equipment, and promptly report any defective equipment or abuse. Apply knowledge, training, and appropriate media in a systems approach to instruction as outlined in curriculum guides. Keep informed of and comply with policies of the WSD and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Maintain student progress records cards as directed by WSD policies. Follow statutory and agency regulations. Cooperate with staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, methods, and policy per WSD requirements. Demonstrate progress in meeting student performance targets of the district. Demonstrate progress in meeting assigned action plans of the district or campus improvement plans. Develop, use, and evaluate innovative approaches to improve performance. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Perform duties in a professional manner with daily, punctual attendance. Execute duties with professionalism, ethics, and responsibility per Texas educator standards. Working Conditions Mental Demands: Ability to communicate, instruct, analyze, reason, organize, maintain emotional control, privacy, work with frequent interruptions. Physical Demands: Lift up to 25 pounds, walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and ramps, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing (with aid), visual acuity, speaking, travel by car, van, or airplane, occasional prolonged and irregular work hours. Environmental Demands: Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone or with others, around machines with moving parts, possible exposure to dust and chemicals. #J-18808-Ljbffr Young World Physical Education
