Job Summary

Our client is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to lead site-level financial operations and partner closely with plant leadership to improve profitability, control costs, and drive business performance.

This is more than a traditional accounting role. The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing and operations teams, spend time on the plant floor, analyze P&L performance, investigate cost variances, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee accounting activities, including general ledger, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Analyze plant P&L, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and operational performance.
• Investigate cost variances, inventory shrinkage, obsolete inventory, product costing, and manufacturing expenses.
• Partner with operations leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
• Evaluate product/SKU profitability, labor costs, production schedules, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Develop financial models, reporting tools, and KPIs to track business performance and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support the Plant General Manager with financial analysis, reporting, and business presentations.
• Manage and develop the Cost Accountant while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Manufacturing experience required , preferably in food and beverage or process manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of P&L analysis, general ledger, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, product costing, variance analysis, and cost reduction.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to partner with operations teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate financial insights effectively.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
