With our competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, we have the right opportunities to fit your life and launch your career today.The Maritime Land Systems & Sensor (MLSS) Operations team of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer.The MLSS Operations Systems Engineering team engages with low manufacturing readiness level (MRL) programs across business units to ensure manufacturing capabilities required for strategic applications are being developed and are ready for implementation into production.The Division Operations Systems Engineer (DOSE) engages with the MLSS business units during pre-proposal and proposal program phases to offer insight into higher yielding, novel, and evolving manufacturing processes. This position may require performing the manufacturing portion of a Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA) as well as assisting other functions in their assessments. Based on the MRA, the DOSE is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to develop Manufacturing Maturity Plans (MMP) which includes but is not limited to executing Affordability, Operations Planning, and Strategic Sourcing Efforts.The MMP also involves the alignment of Manufacturing Capital, Internal Research and Development (IRAD), Manufacturing Technology Advancement (MTA) resources to the development of discriminating technologies including additive manufacturing, advanced packaging, automation/robotics, electro/optics, data analytics, and digital fabric.Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:Interface with MLSS Business Unit to stay current with new concept and proposal programsTechnical interface for Business Unit integrated program teams (IPT) for projects that are MRL 5 or lessLead the development of MRAs and MMPsPartner with Global Supply Chain and the IPTs in making smart make/buy/align decisionsParticipate in producibility reviews for new product designsRecommend design improvements to produce lower cost/higher performing productsUnderstand and translate state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers by interfacing with manufacturing subject matter expertsDevelop discriminating IRAD and capital investment plansDevelop cost models and perform affordability efforts to meet program cost targetsThe ideal candidate:Is self-motivated, works independently, and is passionate about next generation sensor technologyMust be able to understand complex technical issues and frame them in context for program management and functional Vice Presidents alikeHas excellent organizational, project management and communication skillsHYBRID TELECOMMUTING would be considered for the ideal candidate.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science or other relevant STEM area plus 9+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience (or 4 years with a PhD)Broad knowledge of processes and materials used to make Actively Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) including semiconductor technology, microelectronic assembly, surface mount technology and materials for RF performanceMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance. This requires US Citizenship.Preferred Qualifications:5 or more years of manufacturing process engineering related experience2 or more years of program experience (operations program manager, program management)Familiarity with process development and control methodologies such as Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma conceptsKnowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experience with automated equipmentUnderstanding of factory costing methodology and process yield metricsBasic understanding of concepts related to typical manufacturing systems such as: MRP, kitting, batch sizing, configuration control and work flow routingsFamiliarity with MIL-STD, JEDEC and Space class hardware requirementsSalary Range: $123,800.00 - $185,800.00Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
