Transportation Associate

Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities such as checking in trailers, traffic flow, internal communications with operations, conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need (including but not limited to hostlers and day cabs) to support Amazon’s transportation network. Responsibilities Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforce safety measures and policies for all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members. Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings. Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in-yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations. Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies regarding size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, break periods, etc. Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered. Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, obey traffic laws, and drive according to weather and road conditions. Support the business on an as‑needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area. Drive, maneuver, and load/unload vehicles using approved equipment such as pallet jacks. Qualifications Hold a valid and active driver’s license. High school or equivalent diploma. Must be 21 years or older and able to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English. Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs. Work 40 hours per week with overtime as required. Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays. For roles requiring over‑the‑road driving, must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF); Amazon will pay for the CDL. This position will be regulated by the DOT and followed by FMCSA regulations. Complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, a DOT physical, and Amazon’s pre‑employment drug test. Preferred Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences. Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors. Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Completion of Career Choice Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Course. Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
