Operations Manager

Job Summary Reworld is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the safe and cost‑effective operation of our Thermomechanical Treatment Facility (TTF) in Alexandria, Virginia. The Ops Manager will lead a team of supervisors and technicians, collaborate with business stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement and compliance. Responsibilities Set expectations, hold people accountable, and model Reworld values for a safe, inclusive workplace. Deliver superior environmental, health, and safety leadership to prevent accidents and protect people and the environment. Ensure compliance with all permit requirements. Maintain boiler and turbine performance at optimal levels. Translate business strategy into actionable operations and improvement plans, establishing individual KPIs. Contribute to long‑term planning that supports business and corporate strategy. Communicate and implement Operations Department objectives, priorities, and progress. Develop resource plans for effective performance and manage employee relations and engagement. Champion continuous improvement and productivity using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. Lead continuous learning, development, and performance initiatives. Coach and develop personnel to grow and improve operational capabilities. Drive cultural change, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset across the operations department. Audit operations to assure compliance with procedures. Maintain housekeeping and appearance of operations areas for a safe working environment. Qualifications – Required Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) or equivalent experience. 10+ years of plant operations supervisory/managerial experience or a combination with relevant military experience. Experience with power plant operations, high‑pressure boiler operations, or similar. Prior role as a People Leader. Demonstrated leadership in a diverse workforce environment. Strong internal and external communication skills. Proficiency in driving value‑added results and influencing others. Safety management skills in high‑hazard operations. Certification to qualify for ASME, QRO/CFO (or ability to obtain within six months). Qualifications – Preferred Materials handling and processing experience (e.g., conveyors, cranes, hoppers). Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing certification. Familiarity with CMMS for ordering/cost/work order administration. Experience in specialty chemical, waste‑to‑energy, or coal‑fired power plant. Knowledge of electrical and controls systems, air compressors, condensate pumps, cooling water systems, solid‑fuel combustion, and incident management. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication. On‑call and off‑hours work may be required. Career growth oriented. Hands‑on, analytical, problem‑solving approach. Rapid learning curve. Root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills. Physical Demands Walk, stand, sit, climb; lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Pay Transparency The estimated base pay range for this role in Alexandria, Virginia is $136,600.00 – $195,300.00 USD.
