General Surgery Opportunity

Dickinson, North Dakota

A critical access hospital in North Dakota is seeking a General Surgeon for ongoing locum call coverage beginning June 2026. Temporary privileges are available for qualified candidates.

Compensation: On Call (Daily): $2260 per 24 hours to include 4 hours gratis, Orientation: $145/hr, Call back: $290/hr, Holiday Call back: $440/hr.

Coverage Need

Start: June 10, 2026 at 7:00 AM

Initial Coverage: June 10–19, 2026

Ongoing coverage opportunities available

Approximately 10 days of call coverage needed per month

Schedule

Clinic

Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Tuesday: Surgery day, clinic after surgeries as schedule allows

Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Thursday: Surgery day, clinic after surgeries as schedule allows

Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Call

24/7 call coverage

20-minute response time required

Phone consults, admissions, and rounding on General Surgery patients

Scheduled surgeries Monday–Friday

Emergent surgery coverage 24/7

Average Daily Census: 15

Average General Surgery patients per 24-hour call period: 0–5

No APP supervision required

CRNA anesthesia coverage available

Board Certified preferred

Board Eligible accepted within 3 years of completing U.S. residency

ACLS required

DEA required

North Dakota license highly preferred

IMLC candidates considered

Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation required

Credentialing

Temporary privileges available

Providers must complete application within 7 days

Payor enrollment required

Preference for clean malpractice history

No active monitoring agreements

No revoked licenses or privileges

Any malpractice or legal history must be fully disclosed with dates, settlement amounts, and disposition details

Additional Notes

Vendor responsible for provider background screening and 12-panel drug screening after acceptance

Preferred lodging available near the facility

Ideal Candidate

General Surgeon comfortable with independent call coverage

Experienced in both elective and emergent General Surgery

Able to provide full-spectrum bread-and-butter General Surgery services

Available for ongoing call coverage assignments throughout 2026 and beyond
