Director, Resources and Discovery Services

the client seeks a forward-thinking, collaborative, and reflective leader to shape the future of resource and discovery services. The Director of Resource and Discovery Services will lead a newly reimagined division that integrates acquisitions, electronic resource management, and cataloging and metadata operations into a cohesive, forward-looking model. Reporting to the vice dean within the libraries’ research and resource strategies portfolio, the Director will champion innovation, foster collaboration, and build systems that anticipate the evolving needs of a global research community. This role is central to ensuring seamless access to resources that support research, teaching, and learning. The Director will guide strategic approaches to acquisition, description, workflows, and discovery, balancing continuity with transformation to improve efficiency and impact. Working with internal stakeholders and external partners, the Director will cultivate relationships, support negotiation of agreements, and lead a team of more than 20 librarians and staff toward shared goals. As a member of the client’s leadership teams within the libraries and research and resource strategies, the Director will contribute to institutional strategy and advocate for resource and discovery priorities. The Director provides leadership and strategic direction for acquisitions, electronic resource management, and cataloging and metadata operations, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork while managing the resource and discovery services division. The Director will oversee two department heads and guide operations through strategic planning, ongoing evaluation, and cross-department collaboration, ensuring division policies and procedures are documented and regularly updated.
