Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a combined ICU/PCU unit; ICU nurses may be assigned to PCU-level patients when ICU census is low — candidates should expect a significant portion of their contract may involve PCU-level care
• Manage a diverse ICU patient population including sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeds, neuro (stable CVA, TBI), cardiovascular (post-cath, pacemakers, angiograms), and surgical patients
• Perform manual proning, IV medication titration, invasive line management (CVLs, A-lines), and care for intubated and paralyzed patients on multiple drips
• Demonstrate working knowledge of ventilator, trach, high-flow, and BiPAP management (Respiratory Therapy manages devices; RN knowledge is expected)
• Float in turn with staff to MedSurg (ratios 1:5–6) and occasionally to other departments; assignment to PCU is not considered floating
• Complete Traveler Telemetry Competency prior to start ; participate in a 4-hour orientation with clinical educator plus 3 supervised shifts on the unit

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers are generally not accepted; exceptions may be considered based on experience
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and invasive line management
• Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start date

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred
• Strong peripheral IV insertion skills preferred
• Familiarity with ICU Medical Plum IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Prior experience as a charge nurse (required if submitting for a charge nurse role)
