Job Summary The CAPs Specialist provides crisis intervention and assessment to assist in determining the appropriate level of psychiatric care needed. Responsibilities Provides crisis intervention via phone and face to face assessment. Conducts assessments to determine most appropriate level of psychiatric care. Communicates with physicians, referral sources and other hospital staff to obtain care for patients. Refers people to community mental health services as indicated following assessment. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. Participates in staff meetings, attends other meetings and seminars/professional development as requested by manager. Adheres to the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN). Registered Nurse Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree. No travel required. 3 years experience required.
