About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Relevant nursing experience - English fluency - Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser - Multicultural sensitivity - Critical thinking skills using independent judgment Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. You will promote the use of evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures. You will assess the patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes. You will develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient and health care team. You will employ appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes. You will systematically evaluate and document the patient's progress toward expected outcomes on an ongoing basis throughout the shift. You will modify the plan of care based on evaluation and as needed due to changes in patient condition. You will complete required documentation as appropriate, including patient chart and event reports. You will demonstrate professional accountability for your own practice by seeking resources and engaging in continued self-development. You will demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot when problems arise. You will acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. You will promote the professional development of yourself and team members. You will share clinical knowledge through informal teaching and in response to the learning needs of others. You will demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues as applicable. You will demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment as applicable. You will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. You will perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider’s orders and hospital lab procedures and policies. You will coordinate the interdisciplinary care of the patient through collaboration with team members and utilize additional resources when necessary. You will analyze clinical situations in a systematic way and act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes or patient needs. You will recognize the need for assistance and utilize resources, including physician and nurse to nurse consultation in a timely manner. You will demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure problems are resolved in the best way possible. You will be able to assume assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management with some turnover in assignment. You will consistently prioritize work based on changes in patient condition, changes in assignment, and unanticipated interruptions. You will identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs. You will collaborate with the health care team in the organization of tasks and activities for the patient's care from admission to discharge according to the plan of care to meet identified expected outcomes. You will work with other team members in delegating tasks and activities appropriately. You will provide goal-focused shift report. You will advocate with physicians on the patient's behalf when necessary. You will utilize communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity. You will choose an appropriate and meaningful communication style when interacting with others: giving and accepting constructive feedback to/from peers. You will assess and choose teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's and family's age-specific needs. You will adapt teaching strategies based on the patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
