The Controls Management team is seeking an ED-level candidate to serve as a key member of the  CIB Controls Transformation & Strategy team — a high-impact group at the forefront of redefining how Controls Management operates across the Commercial & Investment Bank. Our team is driving the optimization of the Commercial Investment Banking Controls Management operating model, ensuring seamless and effective execution across lines of business while harnessing innovative technologies, including AI, to elevate the organization's Controls Management capabilities.

 

As a Controls Transformation & Strategy Lead within the controls Management team, you will play a central part in shaping and delivering transformational controls management initiatives that span the full breadth of the Commercial & Investment Banking. Key responsibilities include synthesizing complex data to identify thematic risks and control gaps, leading process re-design efforts to optimize operational execution, and developing compelling executive-level materials that communicate our strategic vision to senior leadership. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders across the CIB and controls management to drive high-profile initiatives focused on risk management, governance, and regulatory excellence — translating data-driven insights into actionable solutions that meaningfully reduce operational risk.

Job Responsibilities

• Applying a strategic mindset to drive delivery of initiatives efficiently and consistently across teams and the wider organization
• Gather, synthesize, and creatively analyze data to provide insights, identify issues and arrive at recommendations
• Advising and influencing senior leaders on key business decisions and major change initiatives
• Develop Executive-level materials for key meetings with Commercial & Investment Banking business leadership
• Champion for continuous improvement; help identify and implement change
• The candidate would have to be a strong performer, flexible and able to work independently and create strong partnerships

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Management or other related discipline
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial institutions in strategy, program management, controls, operational risk, compliance, legal, audit or similar function
• Experience leading strategy, operations, process improvement, and high-profile strategic engagements
• Program management experience, ideally coupled with a strategic mindset and financial experience 
• Assimilates broad-ranging information quickly and able to distil into key points
• Ability to synthesize information to formulate a “story” for Senior Management
• Exceptional analytical skills to understand a diverse array of programs and complex end-to-end workflows

• Experience solving complex business problems and driving projects from strategy to execution
• Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions
• Ability to influence outcomes and get the best from people, even where no direct line management responsibility exists 
• Strong understanding of stakeholder management, risk management, and operations
