Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

Electrical Power EngineerTrueline, an established Northern California design-build electrical contractor with a dedicated in-house engineering team, is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join their team in Fremont, California. This role offers the opportunity to design commercial and industrial electrical systems, support projects from concept through construction, and work closely with project managers, estimators, field teams, clients, and experienced engineering leaders.What You'll Do as the Electrical Power Engineer:Design electrical power distribution systems for commercial and industrial building projectsPrepare construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculationsPerform load calculations and size electrical equipmentDevelop single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and distribution plansDesign lighting systems, lighting controls, and equipment power connectionsDesign emergency power, generator, and uninterruptible power supply systemsPerform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studiesPrepare California Title 24 documentationComplete photometric analyses and energy studiesCoordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and low-voltage disciplinesReview RFIs, shop drawings, equipment submittals, and construction documentsResolve field design issues in partnership with project managers and construction teamsParticipate in meetings with clients, utilities, contractors, and authorities having jurisdictionEnsure designs comply with the NEC, California Building Code, and other applicable standardsSupport projects across sectors including data centers, healthcare, clean rooms, advanced manufacturing, education, pharmaceutical, and commercial facilitiesMust-Haves as the Electrical Power Engineer:Bachelor's degree in Electrical EngineeringExperience designing electrical power systems for commercial or industrial buildingsStrong understanding of electrical power distribution and load calculationsExperience developing single-line diagrams and panel schedulesWorking knowledge of the National Electrical CodeAbility to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawingsProficiency with AutoCAD and RevitStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsAbility to work onsite in Fremont Monday through FridayCollaborative, coachable approach and willingness to receive technical feedbackNice-to-Haves as the Electrical Power Engineer:3-6 years of commercial building power design experienceEngineer-in-Training or Fundamentals of Engineering credentialProfessional Engineer licenseDesign-build project experienceSKM Power Tools experienceAGi32 experienceEnergyPro experienceCalifornia Title 24 documentation experienceArc flash, short circuit, and coordination study experienceExperience supporting data center, healthcare, clean room, advanced manufacturing, school, pharmaceutical, or commercial projectsExperience following projects from design through field installation and completionWe Offer:Engineer I base salary of $85,000-$100,000Engineer II/III base salary of $100,000-$135,000Senior Engineer base salary of $135,000-$145,000+, based on experience and internal equityAnnual discretionary bonusMedical, dental, and vision coverage effective on Day 1Life insuranceShort-term and long-term disability coverageAccidental death and dismemberment coverageVacation and sick timePaid holidays401(k) Safe Harbor plan with company matchDirect mentorship from experienced engineering leadershipClear progression from Engineer I through Senior EngineerOpportunity to own projects from design through constructionStable, established company with more than 40 years of industry experienceGrowth-focused culture that promotes from withinTrueline is an unabashed equal-opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce.
