Forklift Operator Outdoor Yard and Production Support (Day Shift)

This role focuses on safely transporting finished materials from production lines to yard inventory while operating a forklift outdoors the majority of the time. You will also cross-train in production tasks so you can support the team by filling in for associates when needed. Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move finished materials from production lines to designated inventory locations in the yard.
• Work outdoors approximately 90% of the time while handling loading and unloading activities.
• Inspect materials, loads, and equipment to ensure safe handling and proper placement in the yard.
• Cross-train in production tasks to provide coverage for associates who are absent or when additional support is required.
• Assist with basic machine operation and assembly tasks as needed to support production output.
• Follow established safety procedures and company policies while operating forklifts and working around machinery.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including yard and production spaces, to promote efficiency and safety.
• Communicate effectively with production and inventory teams to coordinate material flow and prioritize tasks.
• Adapt to working in varying weather conditions and indoor areas that may not be climate controlled.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of recent forklift operating experience.
• At least 1 year of outdoor work experience, preferably in a yard, warehouse, or industrial setting.
• Ability to safely load and unload materials using a forklift and related equipment.
• Experience with production, loading, and unloading processes in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Comfort working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to cross-train and perform basic production and assembly tasks as needed.
• Strong awareness of safety practices when operating machinery and working around equipment.

You will work outdoors approximately 90% of the time in all weather conditions while operating a forklift and handling materials in the yard. The indoor production environment is not climate controlled and can become cramped when scrap material accumulates, so you should be comfortable working in warm, cool, or confined conditions. The role involves regular interaction with production machinery, forklifts, and material handling equipment in a busy industrial setting.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
