Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 28-bed private stepdown unit with a patient population that includes heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 (up to 1:6 for MedSurg acuity patients)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips; unit serves as the central monitor station for the entire facility - RNs must be able to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; manage patients on Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow oxygen
• Document and manage patient care using the EMR system (currently transitioning from Cerner to EPIC)
• Participate in every-other-holiday rotation and may float to the ICU in a helping-hands capacity as needed

• Active, unencumbered RN license valid in Pennsylvania
• BLS certification required (must be current/unexpired)
• ACLS certification required (must be current/unexpired)
• NIHSS certification required (must be current/unexpired)
• Ability to read, interpret, and respond to telemetry and cardiac monitor strips
• Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips in a stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting

• Prior experience in a stepdown, PCU, or intermediate care unit with a cardiac-focused patient population
• Familiarity with Cerner and/or EPIC EMR platforms
• Experience managing patients on Bipap, CPAP, or High Flow oxygen therapy
• Comfort working in a unit that functions as the central telemetry monitoring station for an entire facility

• Work within a well-supported unit that has in-house Hospitalist coverage 24/7, Intensivist coverage 7 days a week, and in-house RT and Pharmacy around the clock
• Block scheduling is accommodated, and unit leadership is known for clear, consistent communication with both staff and travelers regarding scheduling
