Activities Director

Essential Job Duties Create an environment that promotes resident and family participation in activities Develop, implement, and lead resident programs according to program standards and preferences Create and publish a monthly calendar of events Send a monthly newsletter to residents, staff, and families Maintain social media presence under the MBK Home Office umbrella Coordinate planning, execution, and attendance of special functions such as holidays and celebratory events Conduct resident surveys to determine activity interests Facilitate resident activity planning committee to ensure resident participation in calendar development Oversee transportation of residents Assist with safe loading, unloading, seating, and transporting residents onto and off community vehicles and drive residents as needed Schedule transportation for recreational and medical outings Evaluate transportation program regularly to ensure customer satisfaction Maintain all state, federal, and local vehicle and driver regulations and credentials Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise department staff Develop and train volunteers who assist with activities or special events Track volunteer participation and maintain files per state regulations Arrange for outside vendors to conduct programs and process invoices promptly Manage and track budget spending and goals Encourage and invite resident participation in all activities Work with director of health services to involve caregivers in programs Facilitate and conduct resident programs within Connections for Living when applicable Support community marketing efforts through positive interactions with residents, families, and guests Alert care staff of any medical or care need of a resident Ensure resident information such as traditions and preferences are collected per policy Non‑Essential Job Duties Perform other duties or special projects as directed by the Executive Director Instruct visitors to sign in when entering our community Obtain and maintain all state required certifications and licensure Meet with prospective residents to review enrichment programs and offerings Conduct community tours for prospects and families Supervisory/Management Responsibilities Activities Assistant: 1 to 3 employees Transportation (Drivers): 1 to 3 employees Knowledge & Skills Certification in Recreational Activity Leadership: APNCC / NAAPCC or similar Prior related work experience in a similar environment is highly desirable Prior supervisory or lead working experience is preferable Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Publisher, Photoshop, Word, Excel, Outlook, Email) Bachelor’s Degree in recreational therapy, gerontology, music, art, or similar is preferable Compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights Requirements High school diploma or GED Completion of, or ability to obtain State approved Activity Director Certification Must be over 18 years old Background clearance required (per government regulations) Negative TB test results mandatory Excellent communication skills in English (spoken, written, reading) Solid PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment Professional demeanor and positive image at all times Valid driver’s license and insurance Physical Demands Mobile and able to perform bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods Move intermittently throughout the day and between community locations Lift/carry up to 30 lbs. and push up to 20 lbs. as necessary Regulatory Requirements Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, resident rights, and licensing requirements Must not be an Excluded Party under Medicare or Medicaid MBK is an equal opportunity employer.
