Job Summary The Chief Data Officer (CDO) serves as the College's senior leader for institution wide data strategy, governance, reporting, and analytics. Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Student Success, the CDO provides comprehensive oversight of AMSC's data environment and ensures that accurate, secure, and actionable information is available to support academic excellence, student success, accreditation, planning, compliance, and operational decision making.
This role serves all divisions and departments across the College, functioning as the central hub for data management, integration, reporting, and analysis. The CDO leads the development of a data driven culture by ensuring high quality data practices, maintaining the College's data warehouse, and providing training that strengthens institutional capacity for data interpretation.

Responsibilities Data Management & Reporting
- Develop method for disseminating requested data from divisions, departments, and administrative units in such a way for the data to be actionable, timely, and impactful for identified institutional goals.
- Periodically provide academic data, including pass rate/DFW analyses and academic jeopardy reports.
- Store, and prepare data supporting institutional strategic planning, assessment, and accreditation.
- Assist with data submissions to IPEDS, SACSCOC, the National Student Clearinghouse, and other agencies.
- Data Manage, prepare, and distribute learning outcomes data at the course, IMPACTS, and program levels.
- Produce advising, faculty, administrative, non-academic, and campus wide reports as needed.
- Extract and prepare data for grant applications, renewals, and compliance reporting.
- Oversee, maintain, and enhance the College's enterprise data warehouse.
- Write, update, and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and reporting structures.
- Perform SQL queries, coding, testing, and troubleshooting within database systems.
- Records Maintain records related to data systems operations and performance.
- Ensure seamless integration of data across platforms, systems, and reporting environments.
- Analyze user needs, gather statistics, and develop recommendations for improved data processes and reporting.
- Work with users to understand reporting modifications, data structures, input/output requirements, and internal controls.
- Audits Audit systems for data security, integrity, and compliance with enterprise risk management standards.
- Implement and monitor data validation, accuracy checks, and quality controls.
- Assist with creating, maintaining, and publishing dashboards using Power BI and other analytics tools.
- Provide training on data interpretation, analysis, and effective use of institutional data resources.
- Deliver insights and recommendations that support academic and administrative decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience with SQL, database systems, and data warehouse management.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, data analytics, or enterprise data management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience producing complex reports for accreditation, compliance, and academic assessment
- Masters degree in Data Science , Information Systems, Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field .
- Experience in higher education, especially within a comprehensive college or university.
- Familiarity with IPEDS, SACSCOC, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience with Power BI or similar dashboarding tools.
- Knowledge of student information systems (e.g., Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft)
