Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on metal manufacturing machines, cranes, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all equipment and building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on metal manufacturing machines, heavy equipment, and cranes, including lubricating parts, inspecting components, and ensuring proper functionality.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on machinery, motors, sprockets, chains, and other heavy equipment components in both shop and field environments.
• Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to assess crane condition, identify mechanical and electrical problems, and determine appropriate repair actions.
• Replace worn or damaged parts on cranes, machines, and facility systems, and verify that equipment operates safely and efficiently after repairs.
• Maintain detailed logs and records of all maintenance and repair work performed on machinery, cranes, and building systems.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols at all times, ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable standards.
• Identify and resolve issues with building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other mechanical systems, to maintain a safe and functional environment.
• Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems, to prevent leaks and ensure proper operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and other electrical components within the facility.
• Address minor repairs throughout the facility, such as patching walls, painting surfaces, and replacing hardware, to keep the building in good condition.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on facility infrastructure, including cranes and related equipment, ensuring proper lubrication and mechanical integrity.
• Conduct inspections of equipment and building systems to identify potential issues before they lead to downtime or safety concerns.
• Respond to maintenance-related issues and emergencies in a timely manner to minimize disruption to operations.
• Support the upkeep, repair, and ongoing maintenance of buildings and their infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
• Continuously look for maintenance tasks and improvement opportunities, proactively seeking additional work or assistance when assigned tasks are completed.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on metal manufacturing machines and heavy equipment.
• Practical knowledge of crane service and maintenance, including inspection, lubrication, and repair of crane components.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience working with motors, sprockets, chains, and other mechanical parts.
• Proficiency in electrical work, including troubleshooting and repairing wiring, lighting, and electrical components.
• Experience with plumbing systems maintenance and repair, including fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems.
• Facilities maintenance experience, including work on building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure.
• Ability to use computerized diagnostic tools to assess equipment and crane condition and identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to follow and uphold strict safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
• Capability to maintain accurate and detailed logs of maintenance and repair activities.
• Ability to work both in a shop setting and in the field, adapting to different environments and equipment needs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and facility-related systems.
• Capacity to stay active and continuously engaged, seeking out new tasks when assigned work is completed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a maintenance technician, crane mechanic, or facilities mechanic working with industrial or heavy machinery.
• Background in building maintenance, including patching, painting, and hardware replacement.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and general building mechanical systems.
• Understanding of fire safety systems and building infrastructure maintenance.
• Comfort operating and working around heavy equipment, cranes, and potentially boom lifts.
• Ability to conduct inspections and identify maintenance needs before they become critical issues.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and maintain clear documentation.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training, apprenticeships, and skill development related to the maintenance trade.

Work Environment

This role primarily operates on third shift, with an 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. start time, and initial training provided on first shift. Work takes place in an active industrial and manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, cranes, and building systems. The position requires continuous movement and a proactive approach to finding and completing maintenance tasks, with an expectation that technicians seek additional work or ask for new assignments when current tasks are finished.

This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
