Monitor Technician Full Time Chilton

Job Description

Responsible for monitoring heart rhythm pattern of patients in special care unit of hospital to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment. Principal accountabilities include: reviewing patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances; observing screen of cardiac monitor and listening for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm; informing supervisor or general duty nurse of variances to initiate examination of patient; measuring length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout, using calipers, and posting information on patient records; answering calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from medical staff; preparing documentation regarding evaluation results, progress reports, and personalized treatment plans; and may perform relevant duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required: HS diploma, completion of basic arrhythmia course required. Able to pass telemetry pre-test. Preferred: critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Current monitor tech experience and/or recent clinical experience preferred.
