As an Advanced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
General Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is responsible for direct patient care in the cath lab, overseeing all phases of cardiac catheterization procedures with accountability and precision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of cardiac cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation.
- Serve as the first scrub assistant for adult diagnostic and interventional cases such as PTCA, stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertions.
- Operate fluoroscopic equipment proficiently.
- Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology (EP) studies, utilizing specialized EP equipment.
- Apply various radiographic injection techniques and manage hemodynamic recording and procedural documentation.
- Demonstrate expertise in sheath removal and achieving hemostasis through manual and device-assisted methods.
- Collaborate effectively within a multifunctional team, prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical experience in the health field.
Experience
Preferred minimum of two years working in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and interventions is a plus.
Certification and Licenses
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- IABP experience within six months of hire.
- Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT credentials.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, wearing lead aprons during procedures, and frequent stooping, crouching, and twisting. Occasional kneeling, squatting, and sitting are expected. Ability to support, push, pull, or lift weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds is necessary.
Working Conditions
The work environment may involve exposure to chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, explosive, radiation hazards, and other stressors such as noise and temperature variations.
