Job Title

Surgical Technologist – Surgical Services

Location

Rochester, NY | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 4x10-Hour Evening Shifts (1:00 PM – 11:30 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist across multiple surgical service lines including general, vascular, orthopedic, neurosurgery, gynecology, urology, thoracic, colorectal, ENT, and plastic/reconstructive surgery
• Support laparoscopic, robotic (Da Vinci Xi), and open surgical procedures with proficiency in aseptic technique and instrument handling
• Perform proper specimen handling, labeling, and sharps safety protocols in accordance with facility policy
• Participate in the Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedure for every case
• Adhere to decontamination and sterilization processes and indicators throughout all surgical cases
• Fulfill on-call obligations, including 6 call shifts per 8-week block, inclusive of weekends and holidays

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required (exception may apply for candidates with documented NY surgical tech experience prior to 2015)
• Active New York State authorization required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 4 years of surgical technologist experience; additional experience strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Must be willing and able to float within the facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience across a broad range of surgical specialties including robotic-assisted colorectal surgery and complex vascular procedures such as Endovascular Aneurysm Repair and Carotid Endarterectomy
• Familiarity with the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• Lead or charge/management experience in a surgical services setting
• Experience with XLIF, craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, or other advanced neurosurgical and spinal procedures
