Hospital-Based Psychiatrist – Assistant/Associate Professor The Department of Psychiatry at Albany Medical Center is seeking a Hospital-Based Psychiatrist to join our academic faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine inpatient psychiatric care with resident and medical student education within a collaborative academic environment. The selected candidate will provide inpatient team leadership and floor and ER consultation service while playing an active role in the education, supervision, and mentorship of psychiatry residents and Albany Med medical students as part of our ACGME-accredited residency training program. Candidates with strong interests in clinical care, teaching, program development, and academic psychiatry are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Provide direct hospital-based psychiatric care, including inpatient and consultation-liaison services and ECT Participate in psychiatric evaluations and management of patients in the hospital and emergency department Teach and supervise psychiatry residents and medical students in both clinical and didactic settings Collaborate with residency leadership to support resident education, evaluation, and mentorship Participate in curriculum development, scholarly activities, and quality improvement initiatives Serve on departmental and residency training committees as appropriate Contribute to weekend and department call schedules with additional compensation Research and academic interests are encouraged and supported Requirements MD, DO or equivalent degree Board certified or board eligible in General Psychiatry Eligible for medical licensure in New York State Demonstrated interest in resident education and academic psychiatry Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Benefits Competitive base salary starting at $262,500 based on academic rank and experience.
