Position Summary

The Commercial Diesel Mechanic / Roadside Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining heavy-duty tractors and trailers at customer locations. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, mechanical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced mobile service environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Respond to roadside service calls for commercial trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair air brake systems.
• Remove, repair, and install commercial truck and trailer tires.
• Replace brake chambers, slack adjusters, brake shoes, and brake drums.
• Diagnose and repair air leaks and air system components.
• Replace air hoses, glad hands, valves, and fittings.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM A, PM B, PM C, and Annual PM).
• Conduct DOT safety inspections.
• Inspect suspension, steering, wheel-end, and drivetrain components.
• Replace wheel seals, bearings, hubs, and related components.
• Perform battery testing, jump-starts, and battery replacements.
• Repair lighting, wiring, and electrical components.
• Complete accurate digital inspection reports and work orders.
• Communicate repairs and recommendations clearly with customers.
• Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and inventory.
• Follow all OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, and company safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience.
• Experience working on Class 7 and Class 8 tractors and trailers.
• Strong knowledge of commercial air brake systems.
• Experience performing roadside repairs preferred.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following:

• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T-Series)
• FMCSA Annual DOT Inspection Certification
• TIA Commercial Tire Service Certification
• CDL Class A or B (Preferred, Not Required)
• Experience with tractor and trailer PM inspections
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience
