Construction Supervisor | Tensile Structure Systems

Full-Time | Extensive U.S. Travel

This is Not Your Average Construction Supervisor Job

If your idea of supervising a construction site involves standing on the sidelines with a clipboard all day... this probably isn’t your job.

But if you’re the kind of leader who can run the crew, communicate with the client, work around cranes and heavy equipment, AND jump in when the team needs another set of hands, keep reading.

Tensile Structure Systems is looking for an experienced Traveling Construction Supervisor to lead field crews installing custom tensile fabric structures across the United States.

This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground leadership role for someone who knows construction, knows how to lead people, and doesn’t mind trading the same job site every day for projects across the country.

First Things First: You’ll Travel. A Lot.

We want to be upfront about this one.

Most projects are two weeks or less, although some larger projects may run four to six weeks. You'll spend extended periods on the road, so this opportunity is best suited for someone who genuinely enjoys traveling for work.

The good news?

Travel expenses, hotels, and rental cars are covered, plus you’ll receive a $75/day meals per diem.

And because living out of a suitcase indefinitely isn't anyone's idea of work-life balance:

• On longer assignments, the company will coordinate coverage when possible

• Trips home may be arranged and paid for during extended projects to help prevent burnout
\n

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:

You’ll be the person helping make sure the project gets built safely, correctly, and on schedule.

You’ll:

\n
• Lead construction crews and subcontractors on active job sites
\n
• Work alongside your crew during installations when needed
\n
• Coordinate day-to-day installation activities and schedules
\n
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and installation plans
\n
• Oversee installation of custom tensile fabric structures and structural components
\n
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, crane operators, subcontractors, and customers
\n
• Monitor job-site safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism
\n
• Assist with rigging, material handling, equipment setup, and other field activities
\n
• Spot problems before they become bigger problems and work with management on practical solutions
\n
• Train and guide laborers throughout installations
\n
• Maintain accurate job reports and communicate project status
\n
• Keep the job site organized, safe, and moving forward
\n

Who We’re Looking For:

We're less interested in someone who checks every single box and more interested in finding a great field leader with construction common sense .

Ideally, you bring:

\n
• 3+ years of construction supervision or relevant field experience
\n
• Experience in commercial construction, steel erection, rigging, specialty structures, or similar environments
\n
• Strong crew leadership experience, including supervising and training less-experienced labor
\n
• Confidence working around cranes, heavy equipment, and active construction sites
\n
• Ability and willingness to work at heights
\n
• Experience with telehandlers and man lifts
\n
• Ability to read construction drawings and installation plans
\n
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
\n
• A professional, dependable presence on job sites
\n
• A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
\n
• The physical ability to climb, lift, carry, stand, walk, and work outdoors in changing weather conditions
\n
• A strong commitment to job-site safety
\n
• Comfort working in non-smoking environments
\n
• And most importantly: the ability and willingness to travel extensively
\n

Experience installing tensile fabric structures is a major plus. But specialized tensile experience isn't everything. If you're a strong construction leader who can think on your feet, earn the respect of a crew, communicate professionally with customers, and get your hands dirty when necessary, we want to hear from you.

Compensation:

Starting Base Salary: $100,000–$105,000

The company does not currently offer traditional health insurance but is open to discussing reimbursement or compensation adjustments to help offset healthcare costs.
